You Cheated on your Partner, What Should You Do?

From actors to politicians, stories of famous celebrities caught “cheating” on their partner often make front-page news. Many people believe infidelity is unacceptable, yet many of these people still engage in it. An affair is generally a sign that things aren’t working fine with someone’s relationship. Without the necessary skills to heal the issues, a partner may engage in an affair as a way of attempting to have their needs fulfilled—whether these be for intimacy, to value, sex or other matters.

Men are more likely than women to commit infidelity, largely because men have more testosterone, which is responsible for the strong desire to have sex. There is a common misperception that it’s only men who step out on their partners, and that women are always faithful. But, who are all these men cheating with, then? Everyone is capable of cheating but the reasons varies.

First, let’s discuss some of the reasons why do women cheat:

1.They feel unappreciated and ignored.

A lack in feeling loved and appreciated often leads to cheating. When women feels rejected, hurt, or unappreciated, but doesn’t want to break up, cheating can seem like the best way to get the attention they crave. As the study found, 70 percent say they cheated because they felt neglected.  When they are ignored especially their emotional and intimate wants, her moods towards her partner will change drastically.

2. She feels lonely

The common phrase “loneliness kills” was not coined as an assumption but more as a reality. Loneliness is a major reason why women cheat in relationships including marriage because they are known to be more emotional than men. Cheating women isn’t only driven by arrogance, ego or lust, but by a sense of loneliness, due to lack of satisfaction to her relationship. This loneliness is further compounded for housewives, who potentially spend hours alone, only to further be neglected when their partner come home. 90% of couples don’t cheat directly doing it, their first steps are getting interaction with another women or men just by talking like some of them using free trial chat line numbers to contact others without getting that much guilt.

3.  Need for Attention and being wanted

As witnessed in the points above, the reasons why women cheat on their partners is propagated by intertwined emotional factors. Remember that many men in their optimum to impress will always lure a woman with sweet words and total attention. If you fail to attend to your woman’s needs and offer a listening ear, she will cheat on you because she will feel more appreciated and wanted elsewhere. Just because a spouse is physically present does not mean he is emotionally checked in, and for some women, that sort of abandonment can be worse. The urge to cheat can often emerge when women feel emotionally abandoned.

4. Lack of intimacy, passion and sex

A relationship that lacks sexual intimacy is as good as dead to a woman. This is mostly true in a relationship that previously enjoyed a vibrant sex life only for situations to end up reducing and completely killing intimacy. It’s pretty normal for even the most exciting relationship to get a little boring every now and then, but some women are prepared to cross some pretty big lines to bring excitement back into their lives. Some women feel that their life has become predictable and boring. A new relationship can seem like an exciting way to get a buzz.

You went and did the unthinkable: you cheated. Now what? If your partner decides to end the relationship, there’s not much for you to do, but if you want to stay together and make things right, you have some work ahead of you.

Your partner may want to end your relationship, but do you? This is an extremely difficult question to ask yourself. It sucks to know that you’ve hurt the person you love and it’s natural to want to avoid hurting them even more. Your first instinct might be to run back to your partner and beg forgiveness, but it’s important to be honest with yourself about your motivations for cheating. Did you cheat because you felt like your relationship was already over? Do you have real feelings for the person you cheated with? You’ll only prolong your partner’s pain by leading them on to believe the two of you still have a future together, so be honest. Make sure you’ve told your partner the whole truth about your affair. Take complete responsibility for and ownership of your actions. It will hurt but he deserves to know the truth.

You may have cheated for no good reason, or you may have cheated because your relationship was strained or troubled. If you’re serious about repairing your relationship you very well need to learn from it. Have plenty of time thinking about what led you to cheat, the consequences of your actions, and how to ensure you don’t repeat your mistake in the future.

And hey, everyone makes mistakes, and most of us make pretty enormous ones at some point in our lives. This is one of those. But it doesn’t mean you’re pure evil, and you can’t dwell on it forever. Don’t spend the rest of your life hating yourself; it won’t do your relationship any good.
